Our involvement in the University of Łódź Institute of Archaeology non-invasive survey in Ostrowite began in 2010. Since then the research in Ostrowite has become an important reference point for carrying out and interpreting various geophyiscal data. Much work has been put into sampling various anomalies with small test trenches in order to expand via comparative analysis the interpretative potential of geophysical data (see image below with examples). This approach has led to multiple scientific publications and an impressive understanding of the archaeological landscape of Ostrowite and documentation of an unexpected, non-stop large scale inteference of past societies into the subsurface dating from the earliest Neolithic farming communites through the Iron Age and Late Medieval.
