GPR is a staple technique when the study of architectural remains is involved. Especially those located within urban environments that do not allow the application of other methods such as magnetic gradiometry or earth resistance. However many challenges remain for data collection and subsequent interpretation as the complex stratigraphy within historical towns along with heavy intrusions by modern underground infrastructure can be a strong source of noise.
