Early this year we were contracted by Glesum to carry out a multi-disciplinary assessment of a crucial, national-level strategic investment linked with the energy sector. Together we conducted a series of GPR, magnetic gradiometry and test trench surveys which were based on the previously acquired non-invasive data. The integrated results allowed us to create a balanced interpretation of the intensity, quality and state of preservation of the subsurface archaeological features. This helped our Client plan subsequent actions and along with the heritage authorities, undertake decisions according to their investment budget and schedule.
In effect we were able to diagnose a 25 hectare site with the use of multiple, integrated techniques in a short period of time and provide both investors and authorities significant data for further decisions. Although intensive, our research provided a quick and large-scale archaeological assessment for the construction project.
